Privacy policy

Amaré is an app for couples to grow together in love and in faith. What you write here is personal, and we treat it that way. This policy explains which data we use, why, who we share it with and how you can delete it.

What data we use
Your account: an anonymous identifier created when you open the app. We do not ask for an email address, phone number or password.
Your profile: the name you enter, your language, your relationship stage, your goal and, if you choose one, your faith tradition (Catholic, Evangelical or general content).
What you write: your daily answers, prayer requests, testimonies and quiz answers, and when you prayed for one of your partner’s requests.
Couple data: the link between your two accounts, the invite code, your streak and the status of your trial or subscription.
Notifications: if you turn them on, your device’s notification identifier. The daily reminder is scheduled on your phone only.
App usage: events such as “opened the app” or “answered today’s question”, with simple values such as a number of days. They never include your name or the text of your answers, prayers or testimonies: the app drops anything that looks like free text before sending it.
Technical data: like any internet service, our providers receive your connection’s IP address and technical logs to run and protect the service.
We do not use your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera, and we do not show ads.
Why we use it
To provide the service: linking you with your partner, showing you both the question of the day, opening your answers once you have both answered, keeping your story and letting you know what happens between you.
To choose content: your stage, goal and faith tradition decide which questions and quizzes you receive.
To improve Amaré: usage events show us what works and what does not. We do not use them for advertising and we do not sell them.
To manage your trial and subscription, and to comply with the law.
Your faith is sensitive data
Your faith tradition, and what you write in your answers and prayers, can reveal your religious beliefs. That is why we use your faith tradition only to choose the content you receive, and only if you tell us. You can switch to “general content” in Settings at any time.
What your partner sees
Your partner sees your name, your prayer requests and testimonies, and when you prayed for their requests.
Your daily answer and your quiz answers only open once you have both answered. Until then nobody can read them, not even your partner: our database rules prevent it, not just the app.
If you share an invite link, your name travels in that link and whoever receives it can see it.
Who we share it with
Only with the providers Amaré needs to work, who process the data on our behalf:
Google Firebase (Google LLC): anonymous account, database and server functions, in the United States.
PostHog: usage statistics, in the United States.
Expo (650 Industries): delivery of notifications, if you turn them on.
Apple and Google: app downloads, notifications and subscription billing.
RevenueCat: your subscription status, with a pseudonymous identifier, once you start one.
Brevo: the waiting list from the website, in the European Union.
Web3Forms: delivering the contact form to our inbox.
We do not sell your data. We would only hand it to an authority if the law requires us to.
International transfers
Our providers store and process data in the United States. If you live in another country, your data travels there under the contractual safeguards these providers offer.
How long we keep it
We keep your profile and what you write for as long as you have your account.
When you delete your account, we immediately erase your profile, your content and your anonymous account from our database. Technical copies may remain in our providers’ systems for a limited time, under their own policies.
If your partner deletes their account, what you wrote stays stored and readable in your story, until you start over or delete your account.
Usage events are kept pseudonymously. Once you delete your account they are no longer tied to your profile.
Your account is tied to this installation of the app. If you uninstall Amaré without deleting your account, your data stays stored but there is no way to get back in. Write to us with your partner’s name and your invite code, if you have it, and we will help you erase it.
How to delete your account
In Settings, “Delete my account”. Your profile, answers, prayer requests, testimonies and quizzes are erased, including from the story you shared with your partner. Your partner keeps what they wrote, but you will no longer be linked.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: that is done in the App Store or Google Play.
The waiting list on the website
If you leave your email address on amare-app.com, we store that address, the language you read the page in and where you came from. Nothing else: not your IP address, not your browser.
We use it only to write to you when Amaré is available in the stores, and for that we also keep it in Brevo, our email tool, in the European Union. We do not sell it, we do not share it and we send you nothing else. Write to us and we delete it.
If you write to us from the contact page, your name, your address and your message reach our inbox through Web3Forms, the service that delivers that form. We use them only to answer you.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your data, to correct it, erase it, receive a copy, object to usage statistics or withdraw your consent. Write to admin@kissma.org.
If you live in the European Union, you can also complain to the data protection authority in your country; in Colombia, to the Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio. In California you also have your rights under the CCPA. We do not sell or share your data for advertising.
Minors
Amaré is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has given us their data, write to us and we will erase it.
Security
Connections are encrypted, every change goes through server functions that check who is asking, and the database rules prevent reading what is not yours. We only look at specific content when it is essential to solve a problem you report to us, or when the law requires it.
Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we will tell you in the app before the change applies.
